Equilibrio 2018

from Tue 13 Feb to Sun 25 Feb 2018

The Festival Equilibrio 2018, with Roger Salas’ artistic direction for the second year, focuses on France this year. This is a three-year program that started in 2017 with the Festival dedicated to Germany and will end in 2019 with a Festival dedicated to Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland). In these latest 40 years, France has been the heart of great productions and initiatives of contemporary dance in Europe and world widely. This festival dedicated to France will show the work of modern French choreographers and the universal interest of their contemporary repertoire, unknown to the Roman audience until today. The Opera Ballet of Lione will bring to the Auditorium a mixed program of important choreographies, like “Steptext” by William Forsythe (during this event the original cast, mostly Italian and who brought to success this classic of our times, will reunite). There will be shows by Systeme Castafiore, Maguy Marin and Hervé Koubi, this latter a real wonder for his urban rhythms and modern dance. Koubi will present for the first time ever in Italy “Les Nuits Barbares”, acclaimed by critics and audience from all over the world. As a side initiative, Alfio Agostini, director of the magazine Ballet2000 France, will start a debate with the most important critics of French ballet who will analyse the relation between France and Italy in these latest years.
