This huge complex designed by Renzo Piano is an open-air masterpiece with museums and exhibition areas of extraordinary significance. The Archeological Museum with the Roman villa, the Aristaios Museum and the Museum of music instruments of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia overlook the big Foyer.

Apart from the permanent installation by Maurizio Nannucci, the Foyer hosts the Sound Corner, a permanent sound installation within the passageway between the Sala Petrassi foyer and the Teatro Studio Borgna: a sound corner with a monthly program focused on hosting songs by always different artists, suggested by supervisors, artists and institutions. In the inner garden, behind the large window between the bookshop and the ticket office, there is the Pietra Sonante (Playing Stone) by the artist Pinuccio Sciola. A big monolith made of rough basalt with lengthwise clefts from side to side that, through loving caresses or strong rubbing, produce a sound.
